Organized by CZELO at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU in Brussels. The aim of the conference was to discuss challenges related to the invasive alien species (IAS) and diseases in Europe and their impact on the development of EU policies in the field of agriculture and environment. The conference presented policy view on invasive alien species and diseases and agricultural research as well as stakeholders´ views (researchers from the Czech Republic and other European countries).

The outbreaks of emergent plant diseases or insect pests are significantly increasing at an alarming rate due to climate change, global trade and other reasons. These plant health emergent problems are serious threats to global food security in this 21st century.
